Outstanding teaching and learning is key for student success. Building on our work from last year, teachers at NGHS continue to embrace evidence-based research and develop our understanding of how our brain and memory work. Most importantly, we regularly reflect on our practice and use the knowledge we have gained within our lesson planning to ensure our students are able to not only understand new information, but also recall it in the long term. As parents and carers, we wanted to share with you some of the key concepts we are using to inform our teaching and learning and will be producing a series of short video clips available on our website. These will cover a range of topics including how you at home can support with retrieval practice. Our first two videos are available now. The first of these is a basic introduction to the human memory and how this works. The second builds on this to discuss how we can promote better retention of knowledge.
