The KS3 curriculum is broad and balanced with a clear aim of preparing students to face the rigour of the new GCSE specifications. All students study three separate sciences in KS3 as well as two modern languages. The timetable at NGHS is based on 50 fortnightly periods and the allocation is below.
In Year 9, students begin their GCSE programme with four options, which is reduced to three in Year 10, although about a third of the cohort take Further Maths GCSE as an additional course. Almost all students elect to take Short Course RE in Year 10.
