In this section of the website you will find information about the broad and balanced curriculum at NGHS. Our curriculum is unashamedly academic and features triple science from Year 7 through to Year 11 (biology, chemistry and physics) along with the study of two modern languages for all in Year 7 and Year 8 plus at least one modern language when students opt for GCSE.
As an academically selective school, all students, including those on the SEND register, study the same curriculum unless there is a significant medical reason which means an alternative is required. The school very occasionally makes use of registered alternative provision for those who are unable to attend NGHS for medical reasons.
At A-level we offer 20 subjects which is significant for a relatively small sixth form of 200.
This section of the website is written for many audiences. You will find information about sequences of learning in each subject, how the academic year is structured through Years 7-11, the exams taken at the end of Year 11 and Year 13 and how students progress from one keystage to another. You can also find wider and supportive weblinks to further your knowledge about the subject and details of the staff who teach in each faculty.
NGHS has seven faculties and the information is organised by faculty, for ease.
If you have any questions about the curriculum, please contact the relevant Head of Faculty using this contact form.
