Another amazing set of GCSE Results!

Newport Girls’ High School is celebrating another outstanding set of GCSE results with three consecutive years of ever-rising results.   In 2020, 85% of all GCSE results were graded 7-9 at NGHS with 100% Grade 9-6 in English and Mathematics. Read more

Don Steward (1950-2020)

The NGHS School Community is deeply saddened to announce the death of Mr Don Steward who taught Maths at the School until his retirement in 2015. Don chose to end his career at NGHS after having taught thousands of students the joy of Mathematics in schools around the region. Read more

Eggstraordinary History Competition

Even though the school remains closed to all but key workers, NGHS staff have been busy setting challenges to keep students busy alongside their regular classes. The History team wanted students to decorate eggs as key world figures, artists, celebrities, animals etc. Read more

During Monday lunchtime, year 11 and year 12 had the opportunity to listen to a talk given by Gaia Lambert from St John’s College Cambridge. She informed us about university life and provided a more in-depth look into the top universities like Oxford and Cambridge. Read more

U19s reach regional final

On Sunday 26 January, nine students from year 10, 11 and 12 headed to Bromsgrove school for the U19 regional netball competition which we qualified for by coming 2nd in the county school’s competition. Read more

We have recently achieved our Bronze Eco-Schools award. This involved action in 3 areas and we chose to focus on waste, global citizenship and biodiversity. Since the start of SustaiNGHS we have transformed the school into a considerably more sustainable place and hope to take this further. Read more

Supporting Newport Foodbank

Following our Winter Jumper Day last Friday, NGHS was delighted to present our local Newport Foodbank with a cheque for £650 this morning. The money raised will go towards the running costs of the Centre and Cat Finch and her colleague Liz gladly received the cheque from NGHS pupils. Read more
