On the Friday before half term, a small group of Year 7 students took part in our first crafternoon of the year. Crafternoons have been created by the charity Mind, the idea is that whilst doing crafts we can open up conversations about mental health and help people who may be struggling. As a school we have adopted this idea and hold crafternoons to check in with young people and allow them the chance to do something different with their lunchtimes.
Last half term the group were tasked with pumpkin carving. Each group had to come up with their own creative design over lunchtime and the group seemed to have a lot of fun doing this activity. Numbers were limited for this event due to current restrictions, but I hope to be able to run a Christmas crafternoon at the end of this half term too.
